During the Testing/Debugging Process

The ESC started to smoke right after it was powered on.

Possible Cause(s)	Solution(s)
1. Backward installation of batteries.	1. Refer to the "+, _" mark (on the ESC/battery) and plug the battery in.
2. The input voltage was beyond the ESC operating voltage.	2. Refer to the user manual and plug in a suitable battery.

The ESC was unable to start the motor after it's powered on, but the motor beeped "BBB..." (a short, single beep that repeats rapidly).

Possible Cause(s)	Solution(s)
The throttle stick was not moved to the bottom position or the throttle range was too narrow.	Move the throttle stick to the bottom position or recalibrate the throttle range.

The ESC was unable to start the motor after it was powered on, but the motor beeped "B, B, B, ..." (a short, single beep that repeats and the interval between two beeps was 1 second).

Possible Cause(s)	Solution(s)
There was no throttle signal output from the TH channel of receiver.	Check if the transmitter and receiver are well bound, if the throttle cable has been plugged into the wrong channel or reversely plugged into the TH channel on the receiver.

The ESC was unable to start the motor after it was powered on, but the motor beeped "BB, BBB, BBBB" circularly.

Set the direction of throttle channel wrongly.	Refer to the transmitter manual and re-set the direction of throttle channel.

The motor rotated in the reverse direction.

The aircraft could only be started by high throttle input or the maximum RMP was remarkably low during the flight.

1. The throttle signal was lost.	1. Check if all the connections are correct and firm.

2. The high temperature made the ESC enter Thermal protection, or even burnt down.	3. End the flight immediately and do not restart until ESCs cool down.
	4. Change another ESC or improve the cooling system/conditions.

The aircraft couldn't start.

1. Flight controller was unlocked in a wrong way.	1. Adjust relevant parameters on your flight controller.
2. The ESC entered Start-up protection.	2. Move the throttle stick to the bottom position, and then carry out the unlocking steps.

The motor cogged badly during the start-up process and emitted that kind of "click" noise.

Poor compatibility between the ESC and motor.	Increase the Timing or adjust and flash the ESC firmware again.

Does this XRotor 20A ESC support the OneShot Mode (a special throttle signal receiving mode)?

What protection function does this ESC have? Does it have the Thermal/Overheat Protection?

This ESC is specially designed for multi-rotors. It doesn't have the LVC protection, thermal protection, but the start-up protection, overload protection and throttle signal loss protection.

Does this ESC have built-in BEC module?

No. Generally speaking, multi-rotors don't need any BEC modules in ESCs to power peripherals (like receivers).

What's the Start-up Protection?

The ESC will shut down the motor if it fails to start the motor normally within 2 seconds by increasing the throttle value. In this case, you need to move the transmitter throttle stick back to the bottom position and restart the motor.

What is the Overload Protection?

The ESC will cut off the power/output when the load suddenly increases to a very high value. Normal operation will not resume until the throttle stick is moved back to the bottom position. The ESC will automatically attempt to restart when the motor and the ESC are out of sync.

What is the Throttle Signal Loss Protection?

When the ESC detects loss of signal for over 0.25 second, it will cut off the output immediately to avoid an even greater loss which may be caused by the continuous high-speed rotation of propellers or rotor blades. The ESC will resume the corresponding output after normal signals are received.

Is it possible to program this XRotor 20A ESC with a program card/box?

No. User can only calibrate throttle range and adjust timing via tranmitter.

What operating temperature can it stand?

It's better not to let its casing temperature exceeds 80℃ even if the ESC can stand the temperature of 100℃ in a short time.
